Jennifer stood again on her tippy toes and reached for the plates in the cupboard as another furry family member joined them in the kitchen, the fat Scottish fold struggled to jump on the counter next to the car seat and landed on his feet with a small thud. “Maybe she will take after one of her Uncles and surprise us all,” giggled Jen. “I hope so. I know it will not be too easy, but her mommy sure can dream!” She walked over to the kitchen table and set the plates down.
Aw. Jen knew Brian was the happiest and most enthusiastic baby with even the smallest of things, like Elvis. “He means well, I know and I love him for it. But there are days I just want to have something really fattening and not care about it! Like tonight,” sweetly smiled Jen. “The cupboard with the glasses in it is too high for me, would mind getting two down please?”
Selena watched Jen as she reached for the plates ready to step in at any moment. She knew that most of the time, Jen needed to do things herself and she wasn’t going to get on her nerves by offering to do every little thing for her. Selena smiles as she shakes her head. “Careful what you say. I don’t think you really want her to take after her uncles.”
Sel looked over when she saw Jen’s cat jump onto the counter. “Don’t fall in love, Brian. We’re not getting a cat.” Selena moved over to the cabinet as Brian kept his eyes clued to the cat. “Well then you should eat fattening food for tonight and get back to your horrible veggie diet in the morning.” Selena pulled two cups down and placed them on the table before carrying Maddie’s car seat over to where they would be eating.
Jennifer took the big carry out bag from her best friend and she made sure to hold it far enough up that Elvis would not be able to stick his nosy muzzle between the plastic handles to examine exactly what Selena brought them for dinner. “So far she is usually shy with strangers,” she said, referring to the lack of activity from Baby Jonas at the touch of her best friend’s hand as she giggled. “I do not know. I think she might be a tough one to get out!”
She rolled her eyes as the furry canine nudged her hip and grunted up at her, swishing his tail back and forth and begging just for a little bit of nibblies. “No. Sit down, Elvis,” the pregnant blonde scolded.
"Oh my gosh, that must so be a Jonas thing. I practically lived off from them after the morning sickness went away. One name: Nicholas," Jennifer started to walk in the direction of the country styled kitchen with Elvis right on her heels. "He has put me on a health kick since I got here."
"You and Nick are both pretty shy and quiet yourselves. Maybe she just takes after you two already." Selena picked up Maddie’s car seat as she followed Jen into the kitchen. "She might surprise you. Maybe she’ll be a shy but easy child?"
Selena reached down and pet the golden dog as he passed her. “Don’t worry, bud. I’ll slip ya something.” Sel smiled as Brian squealed at the sight of a dog. With two dogs always wandering around their household, the twins were no strangers to dogs and were indeed dog babies.
"You tend to get a lot of the ‘Jonas things’ when pregnant with a Jonas baby. A lot of them." Selena put Maddie’s car seat on the counter and stood next to it. "At least his intentions are good. And you really should. Just treat yourself every once in a while. Like tonight!" Selena smiled. "Do you need any help with anything?"
Jennifer has not seen her best friend in almost two months, the last time they saw each other was before any of them knew she was carrying the newest addition to the Jonas clan, not even her. She was so excited to see how much her little goddaughter and her brother have grown, and how much Selly has changed. Even though it was probably not by much.
Jen rolled her eyes and shook her head while she tried to keep her pregnancy waddle to a minimum, but all the extra weight she was carrying made it impossible to. Nick always laughed when he saw waddle and compared it to the cutest preggo waddle he has seen, mostly to make her feel better about. “That is the nicest thing anyone has said to me during this whole thing,” she giggled and embraced her best friend into a hug after she made it over. “Goodness, yes. After weeks of being without it, I am eternally grateful to you!”
These days, it was uncommon for Selena to make much of an effort to get out of the house. But she was so excited to be out for some reason other than chemo appointments and even more excited for it to be to spend some time with Jen. Selena handed Jen the big carrying bag from In-N-Out before gently placing her hand on her friend’s stomach. “And hello in there. We can’t wait to finally meet you.”
Selena smiled as she stood back up. “Well, it’s true. And I’m happy I could help out.” Sel switched Brian to her other arm and fixed his pajamas. “I lived off milkshakes when I was pregnant and burgers seemed to be included in that deal, so I have no idea how you are not eating them all the time.”
That—That isn’t important. Those were private photos that weren’t supposed to be seen by anyone other than someone else …
And Kevin prevented anything from happening to you that might have happened if you lived alone. Are you really? Interesting. I don’t hear that too often. I think it should be me and not you.
That, my friend, was a scandal.
I know he did. And I am very grateful for all he did and continues to do. I am. Don’t get used to it. But for this, I am on your side. No. I’m better. Not only am I just a better person, but I know what she’s going through and wouldn’t like call her fat or anything when she’s busy growing your daughter inside of her.
After Jennifer finished texting her best friend, she decided it would be best to get out the pajamas she has almost been in for two days and start looking through what maturity clothes she stored in Nick’s walkin closet. She needed to at least look a little presentable. Jen stood clear up on her tippy toes and unsuccessfully tried to tug out one of Nick’s larger, cotton shirts without the rest toppling out. “Gosh darn it!” huffed Jen while the pregnant blonde did her best to lean down and clean up the mess she made. Well this sucked. “Nick, I dropped something… actually, make that a lot of somethings! Can you please-” She was cut off by a muffled response back back from somewhere close to the bedroom, Jen giggled before she hollered back. “Thank you baby!”
Jennifer changed in just a few minutes and pulled her hair back from her face, tying it into a cute little bun that sat on the top of her head while she made her way down the stairs when the front door opened and Nick’s large canine friend barked. “That was quick!” giggled Jen, noticing Sel walk into the house. She made her way down the rest of the stairs and went over to help her best friend with the twins. “Oh gosh, that smells so good.”
Selena couldn’t remember the last time she had seen Jen and she couldn’t wait to see not only her friend but how big the younger girl had gotten. Sel put down the twins car seats as she walked into the house a little more and started to take out Brian who was wide awake, not surprising, as Maddie stayed fast asleep in her seat.
Sel smiled when she heard her best friend’s voice and turned around to see the shorter and wider girl making her way to them. “Oh my goodness! You’re the cutest little pregnant person!” Selena walked over to her and wrapped her arm gently around her being careful to keep Brian away from her belly. “Well burgers, fries, and milkshakes always have a way of smelling delicious.”
I don’t always get into trouble. Please name the last time I got into trouble?
Would you let your girlfriend live by herself, not only so close to her due date but after she almost slipped in the shower the week prior? I’m being a bad guy, I am trying to put her and the baby’s safety first. Ha, you have no case against me! You better brush away those dreams of ever having one, she’s all mine.
Didn’t you just have like a picture scandal or something…?
Nope. I was planning on moving in with him anyway, but I officially moved in with Kevin when I got pregnant. I did not say you are a bad person. I am actually on your side about that one and that’s what I told her. I just think it should be me and not you living with her.
Right. I’m sure you don’t ever get into trouble. Not once. You’re practically an angel sent down from above, yada yada yada. I get rarely into trouble any more.
What are you, the girlfriend services? It’s her various terms of endearment for me. So, obviously things are fine and she is pleased with the current situation in our household. Why can’t she live on her own?
I am. It’s a known fact. You always got into trouble though. So… you’re still worse than me.
She can live on her own. But word around the street is you’re not letting her. So if she has to live with someone, it should be me. And a big plus is I’ve always wanted a girl roommate. So it all works out.
Selena got the twins changed into their pajamas and into their car seats before heading out. Getting in the car, the 21-year-old made her way through the In-N-Out drive through making sure she had enough food to last the two best friends the night and some extra in case her brother-in-law changed his mind about being hungry.
A little while later, Selena was pulling into Nick’s driveway. She got the twins and the food out of the car and walked up to the front door. Sel knocked lightly before walking inside when the door opened. “Dinner delivery.”
It must be the interest of hearing what trouble you got yourself into, when you weren’t in California.
No, you won’t. You will have to pry her out of my cold, dead arms before I’d let you take her away from me. In other words, over my dead body, Gomez! What situation? I feed her and I make sure she has everything she wants, there’s no reason to assess any situation here, ha. Move along.
I very rarely get into trouble. If I’ve ever actually gotten into trouble. It’s not my think. You on the other hand.
She calls you mean names so she obviously doesn’t like the current situation. She’s going to come live with me and we’ll work out visiting hours.
